Luke 19:13
Luke 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. KJV
Christians continuously speculate as to when the Lord will return. Many have tried to even give predictions as to the exact date. Those dates, however, have come and gone, and yet, the Lord has yet to come. None of us know the exact timing of the Lord’s return because God’s timing is not in our hands to know. We can only follow the signs of the times which brings us to believe the time is short - very short. We see on a global scale - wars, rumors of more wars on every continent, famine, massive death rates through war, crime, abortion, plagues and persecutions of Jews and Christians alike, and it points to the time is drawing near. What, however, is short in the eyes of God? Could it be one day, a year, five, ten years or even much longer? In other words, how long can this world survive in the chaos that man has put upon himself before God intervenes? How long can man survive before he destroys himself and everyone else in the world?
There are many who say, “I’m young - I want more time.” Others will say, “I have a life to live first. I want to get married, have children and live life before Jesus comes.” On the other hand, others are saying, "I'm concerned for my children and grandchildren in this chaotic world." While these statements have rung out in the hearts of believers since the time of the writing of the Scriptures, we must all understand that we always need to be ready for Christ to return, yet occupy our posts until He does come!
As Christians, having the indwelling Holy Spirit, we are all on assignment while living upon this earth. There is much work to be done for the Kingdom of God before Jesus returns for His bride. Second Thessalonians 2:7 tells us we are the restrainers of evil, which means we must stand strong to fight for righteousness no matter how things look around us. While we wait for Christ to return, we must continue on with our lives as God directs, remaining faithful to the end. Only Father God knows when that timing will take place, and it will be at the perfect time.
As has been our command from the beginning, we continue to witness Christ to a dying world, bringing people to the Lord, making disciples and teaching the truths of the Word of God. While we do, we need to carry that immanency that Jesus could come at any time. As such, we MUST be “rapture ready” for Jesus to appear in the sky to catch His bride up to Himself while we occupy over the earth until He comes.
