March 5 - Luke 12:34

Luke 12:34

Luke 12:34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

We all have things that become treasures to us. Our heart then becomes filled with the things that are important to us. In other words, whatever consumes our thoughts more than anything else, taking up our time and our money becomes our treasure. It could be money, drugs, gambling, self, another person, TV, gaming, sports or a myriad of other things.

The treasure of your heart is important to God. You see, He wants to be the treasure of your heart. In other words, He wants you to be consumed with Him and His righteousness, and out of that abundance, God has a treasure in heaven waiting for you.

As Christians, we need to continuously examine our hearts to make sure we are not putting something ahead of our relationship with the Lord.  For when or if we do, our relationship with Christ suffers.  King David cried out to the Lord to search my heart Oh God and see if there is any wickedness within me (Psm 139:25). As we seek the Lord and His righteousness, however, all our rewards will be added onto us - and they are eternal.

Know where your true treasure is, and how it awaits for you. The Apostle Paul told us in Colossians 3:1-2 that if we are raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

So then, let's examine the treasures of our heart to make sure the Lord occupies and rules it above all else.
