James 1:5

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
This is one of those promises that God gives to His people - in that if we lack wisdom, in which we all lack, all we need to do is simply ask God for it. God loves to dole out His promises to His family because that means His family is seeking Him to receive those promises. Since all of God's promises in His Word are conditional, that means we have to reach those conditions in order to receive the promise.
This is one of those easier promises in that the requirement for the fulfillment of this promise is to simply, and earnestly, ask God for His wisdom, and He will pour it upon us generously, without scolding or rebuke. In other words, God loves to pour out His wisdom upon us and He is simply waiting for us to ask Him.

We do need to understand, however, that the wisdom that God gives us will be His wisdom - not man's wisdom. What we may think makes sense to us, but God may have another opinion. He knows our future and what is best for us, so furthermore He carries the right wisdom for us. As such, we must always be ready to ditch our wisdom in favor of God's. That means having faith and trust in how God leads us.

Asking for God's wisdom should be a daily prayer because we do not know our future and what "really" is best for us. By starting out our day by asking God for His wisdom to carry out our day, we can be sure He will give it to us.

Right now, before you go any further, ask God for His wisdom for your life today. Then go about your day with an ear open to hear the voice of God speaking to you. Then when He does speaks to you, and He will, simply, by faith and trust, follow His instruction. You will discover that your choices may not have been God's choices, but His choices were the best choices for you.
