Ephesians 6:10-13
Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Over the previous couple of weeks we did our Daily Devotions on the Secret Place in God - where we get our protection. As I brought out, my husband and I pray the 91st Psalm every night over ourselves and our family. We always finish, however, with the armor of God, so I wanted to share with you what God has revealed to us on the armor of God. As New Testament believers, I strongly believe that knowing and applying the armor of God on ourselves gives us power over the schemes of the devil.
The Apostle Paul was finishing up his teaching on who we are in Christ as he wrote to the Christians in Ephesus. So he concludes in chapter 6, starting in verse 10 by saying, "Finally my brethren: Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might." Many Christians go through the motions of putting on their imaginary armor for protection against Satan every day. While that is honorable, and certainly nothing wrong with that, I believe it goes much deeper than that.
We've got to get it strong within our heart what God is telling us here by this verse. We don't conscienteously put on the armor everyday, whether it be by speaking it or actually go through any imaginary motions of putting it on. We keep the armor of God on us at all times. Just as we learned that we live within the secret place in God continuously, we keep the armor of God on continuously as well. While my husband and I do repeat the words of Ephesians 6 everyday, it is not to keep putting the armor on, we just need to remind ourselves of what we already have so we don't get sloppy in it, but do it as a reminder to ourselves of what we already have in Christ. The armor is already there, we just need to remind ourselves of what we already have so we can use and apply it to our lives as needed.
Over the next several days we will learn more on the armor of God, what it is for, and why we must keep it on at all times. Never forget, we have an enemy out there who roams around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, and intends to rob, kill and destroy when we are vulnerable and unprotected.
