Psalm 91:13
Psalm 91:13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
Dear Christian friends,
Satan is referred to by many names in Scripture. In this scriptural context, he is referred to as a lion, cobra or serpent. Because we, as God's children, who choose to dwell (live) in our secret place in God, under the shadow of the Almighty, we are protected from evil, being able to put Satan under our feet. When we step out of our secret place, however, we can compare Satan's sneeky attacks to a snake bite that when attacked by its venom, we don't even realize it. We get sleepy, and within three to eight hours our sleep turns into death without any pain. Satan is that clever - that when he attacks, we don't even realize it. So it gets easier and easier to drift further away from our secret place in God. As such we get sleepier to the things of God and Satan ends up killing us.
John 10:10 The thief comes to rob, kill and destroy. By I (Jesus) have come to give life and give it more abundantly
As New Covenant believers, our protection expands beyond our secret place because we have the authority of God in the name of Jesus, having the power of the Holy Spirit operating within us to render Satan helpless. We put Him under our feet and he cannot move because our foot has him tight in our grip to where he is completely helpless. His teeth and venom cannot harm us because he is under our feet and that is where we choose to keep him.
So let's keep Satan under our feet by knowing and using our authority in Christ so that we have it solidly planted in our heart that Satan is a defeated foe and we have the victory over him in Christ Jesus.
Blessings,
