Ephesians 6:16

Ephesians 6:16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked of the wicked one.

How do we activate our faith? Our Bibles tell us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). We listen, we read, we meditate and we study God's Word to increase our faith. The Word of God is full of life, active and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, joint and marrow, and is a discerner between the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). There are no other words that can penetrate and go right to the heart of man other than the Word of God. There are no other words that can change the heart of man than the Word of God.

Our faith in Christ and all He has done for us comes when we get the Word of God down richly into our hearts, our hearts become stronger, deepening our faith in that it not only changes us, it becomes a weapon to be used on Satan and his demonic forces. Our faith then becomes a shield which quenches all the fiery darts of Satan in whatever he and his minions would try to throw at us.

Do you remember an old saying as a child that said "sticks and stone may break my bones, but words can never hurt me? While negative words can and do hurt, God's Word changes us in the positive to become more like Christ. If we can then take this simple little dittie that Satan uses with other people to hurt us, and put up our shield of faith, knowing that that the Word of God builds our faith to withstand even negative comments that people use against us. Those words will then bounce off of our shield where they cannot hurt us. The more we build our faith in all that God is doing in us, the more we can withstand even negative comments people might make against us.

Whether negative words or actions come against us, we have the shield of faith as an armor to put on us to stop whatever Satan would like to put upon us. So then, let's get the Word of God deeper into our hearts and purpose to activate it by putting on our shield of faith to distinquish all those fiery darts of the wicked one.
