Ephesians 6:17
Dear Christian friend,
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
As we continue to put on the armor of God, we go to the headgear, which is designed to protect the head - our mind. The enemy wants to wage war against our minds, so furthermore, often the battlefield with Satan takes place within our own minds. His schemes become real within us and how easy it is to run with those thoughts, thinking the worst is going to happen. That, however, is exactly where Satan wants us - running in fear as to what might happen.
That is when we go on the counter-attack with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Second Corinthians 10:5 tells us that we are to "take every thought captive" to the obedience of Christ. In other words, all those imaginative thoughts that keep pounding in our head, which we know is from the enemy, creating fear, which we know does not come from God, we must grab hold of those thoughts and make them obey the Word of God.
How then do you do that?
Fight the devil with the Word of God. That is your greatest weapon against him. Get strong down in your heart certain promises of God that can defeat Satan in that battlefield of your mind by telling him over and over how he is defeated. One of the scripture verses I like to use is:
Romans 10:28 All things work out for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Then I remind the devil how all things work out for my good because I love God, and I am called according to His purpose - not Satan's. I will keep reminding myself of God's promise and keep reminding Satan how he is defeated until peace comes upon me.
Another verse I take to heart and use comes from Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
We are in a war and God wants us to be warriors not worriers. As such, we need to take advantage of every weapon God has given us. Again, the Word of God is our greatest weapon against Satan. Don't be afraid to remind him how he is defeated in your life. Stand on the promises - get them down deep and strong in your heart, and then use them against the devil when he tries to attack you. When you do, you are taking those negative thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ, so you can stand strong against any enemy attack - and that is exactly where God wants you to be.
Blessings,
