Gal 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

In Greek, “walk” is G4043, meaning to go, tread all around, that is, walk at large.

Wherever we tread our feet, the Apostle Paul is telling us by the Spirit of God to avoid fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. As such, we need to walk in the Spirit.  Let’s first look at the lusts of the flesh, which are evident, as we see in Gal 5:18-21:

  • Adultery, fornication (sex outside of one’s marriage), uncleanness (homosexuality and other perverted sex), licentiousness (partylike spirit), idolatry (worshiping anything above God), sorcery (drugs or witchcraft) hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions (including greed), dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries (fighting) and the like.

How then do you replace the deeds of the flesh? In your thoughts, words and deed, always seek to please God by doing the will of God. We find God’s will for His people in the Ten Commandments and in the words of Jesus when He said “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and then love your neighbor as yourself. Then God gave us the fruit of the Spirit as listed in Galatians 5:22-23, which are all under the heading of “love.”

  • Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and seif (God) controlled. If you would conscientiously practice walking in the Spirit every day, not only would you see miracles happening, you would see changes in relationships, other people, and situations because God will not only be working through you, but changing the environment, which changes people to bring about God’s presence in every situation.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to operate by the fruit of love as I reach out to others today!
I DECLARE: I choose to walk in the Spirit today!

John 13:35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
