Ephesians 1:9
Ephesians 1:9 Having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed In Himself
We have been looking at the many, many blessings we have "in Christ" and because "of Christ" in the first three chapters of the Book of Ephesians. Ephesians 1:3 says Blessed be the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ Who has blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. Everyone of our blessings comes because of Christ operating in our lives.
It was God's good pleasure to create us. He had us planned in His mind even before the foundation of the world. We were foreordained! God is now telling us that it was also His good pleasure to make know to us the mystery of His will. So then, what is that mystery of His will? What is that secret plan of God?
The Greek word is “musterion,” which gives us the English word “mystery. It means something previously concealed but now revealed. Hense, the emphasis on God’s foreordained purpose from verse 4 comes into play, meaning because of Christ, God has predestined you for a plan and purpose to be a part of the mystery of His will. You are a part of His plan for this world.
That plan - that mystery - meaning Christ's death and resurrection, belongs to you. You belong to God's family, you belong to God's kingdom - all because of Christ. What an awesome privilege to be a part of the mysterious plans and purposes of God, which He had foreordained before the foundation of the world.
