Emotion Regulation with the Top-Down or Bottom-Up Approach — The ...

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in You sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

In a spirit of humility, in the form of a plea, King David gave a prayer of surrender and purity to the Lord when he prayed that his spoken words and thoughts be acceptable to the Lord. He knew that true godliness was not what outward appearances showed, but what went on in the heart of man.  He knew he was not blameless to where he was sacrificing himself to God as he was seeking for Him to do the work of transformation within him.

Let's then look at our own life. It doesn't matter whether you are a king like King David or a pauper. It doesn't matter whether you are in the ministry or not.  How do you act toward your neighbor? How do you treat your co-workers or even your family. If our motives are not pure, our hearts are not right with the Lord.  God always looks at our heart and the motives that come from it.

Jesus Knows My Heart: Psalm 139:23, 1 Peter 1:7 | Sidewalks Chalk

This is a good time to examine our heart to see that our motives in "everything" we do is pleasing to the Lord. Examine what you have done so far today. What has gone on in your thoughts and actions, or even lack of it? Ask the Lord if it was pleasing to Him.  Then let the Holy Spirit examine your heart and just listen for His voice.  If He shows you something that was not pleasing in the sight of God, right now, repent and ask God for His forgiveness. Then ask Him how you can right the wrong. It may be a behavioral change or a change of thinking. Either way, God wants us to keep our hearts pure before Him. In that way, our intimate fellowship and connection with Him will remains strong and we will become more Christlike in our behavior and in our thinking - and that pleases Him!
