The study of the 1st century cult of Docetism will also be examined. 1 John - Chapter 1 Jesus came from heaven, was made manifest as a physical human being so that mankind could have eternal life with God. Jesus taught those who would believe in Him to walk according to the light of His Word, and when they sinned, they could go before God in repentance, confessing their sins. In this, God is pleased! 1 John - Chapter 2 The Apostle John addresses the believers in the churches in Asia Minor whose maturity is on various levels. His aim is to awaken the Church so they will desire to develop their faith to a deeper level in knowing God. As such, they are then free to lead a righteous life in God. I John - Chapter 3 As believers in Christ, God calls us His children. What then is our responsibility back to Him as our Father? 1 John - Chapter 4 The chapter gives instruction on how to recognize a cult that would claim itself as Christian, learn about the indwelling Holy Spirit, and conclude with the topic of love. 1 John - Chapter 5 This chapter gives us the blueprint for being a true believer in Jesus Christ, along with how believers are to treat other believers, as well as how to pray for them. It concludes with what is a sin that does not to death versus a sin that leads to death. The topic of carnality leading to the blaspheme of the Holy Spirit will be discussed.
