1 Thessalonians (Book of) A verse by verse biblical study on the Book of 1st Thessalonians. Includes graphs, maps, pictures and charts. Bible (NT) 1 Thessalonians (Book of) 1 Thess - Background This lesson sets forth the background study to help you understand the Book of 1st Thessalonians in a much more fuller way. 1 Thess - Chapter 1 The Apostle Paul gives his greeting and explains how happy he is in the growth of this new church. Even in affliction, these believers grew in their faith with joy. This shows us today how we too can grow in our faith with joy in the midst of any affliction. 1 Thess - Chapter 2 The Apostle Paul continues to encourage the Thessalonian believers to stand strong in their persecution of their own countrymen. In addition, division begins to come between the believing Jews and Gentiles in that the Jews want the Gentiles to become Jewish. 1 Thess - Chapter 3 The Apostle Paul shares with the Thessalonian believers how he has missed them and are concerned with their spiritual condition in the midst of persecution. He reminds them that persecution will come, but they can be overcomers. He finishes by telling them that holiness is important as believers draw close to the time of the Rapture of the Church. 1 Thess - Chapter 4 The Apostle Paul is teaching the believers in Thessalonica how to live the Christian life in the face of persecution that surrounds them. This gives believers of today a solid teaching on how to live the Christian life as well. 1 Thess - Chapter 5 The Apostle Paul is giving the believers at Thessalonica an understanding of the times and seasons and how to prepare for the end-time events. While this was given to the Church at Thessalonica 2000 years, it speaks to the Church today on how to prepare for what the world will be facing, but more importantly how to get ready for the Rapture of the Church.
