The Power of the Word of God Enjoying Your Bible
The Power of the Word of God
Do you have difficulty studying the Bible, even though you know, as a Christian, that is what you should be doing?
God tells us in His Word to: 2 Timothy 2;15 Study to show myself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth
Your Bible is like a road map in life. You need it for direction on how to live your everyday life successfully, having a meaningful and pleasing life that is not only exciting for you, but pleasing to God. Your Bible shows you who you are, your purpose in life and how to live out that God-given purpose every single day.
When I first started studying the Bible so many decades ago, I simply needed answers to the problems that were going on in my life. For any one of you who are just beginning your journey in learning about the Bible, maybe you can learn from me.
I went to the back of my Bible in the concordance section to find words showing me verses that were relevant to what I was going through at the time. Such as: If I was sick, I looked up verses on God's promise for healing. If I was anxious, I looked up verses that pertained to anxiety. I did that for years because I discovered those verses really spoke to my heart.
Now days we can simply google whatever emotion we are going through and put the word "scripture" after it, and tons of Bible verses come popping up.
Start with just a verse or two of a promise from God with what you are going through and then meditate on it until it resonates within you.
As I continued searching for verses that applied to me, I saw that God had a much broader plan for my life than the struggles I was facing at that time. That led to deeper studies as God continuously led me through to victory over and over.
