The Life of Faith
What does it truly mean to live a life of faith?
The Life of Faith
The life of faith is a journey of the heart that begins by believing and trusting in God the Father, Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit - the three in One. That means having a personal faith in the Godhead and all He has done for us individually.
This journey of faith first begins when we personally accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, believing in Him and all He has done for us. It's got to be a personal, genuine faith that is settled in our hearts.
Why is then that so many Christians claim to believe in Jesus, but that seems to be the end to their faith. They said a prayer claiming to believe in Jesus in order to go to heaven. But they then continue to live like they did before where nothing seems to have changed. Is that really true faith?
The faith life of a believer in Christ must go into everyday life. That means no longer relying on our own abilities - operating out of our own senses. The Bible calls this kind of fleshly (or carnal) living. God wants us to have the God kind of faith.
God wants us to put our trust in Him for everything in life, because we all struggle with managing our lives continuously. We need to begin to believe and live by the 200 plus promises God has given us in His Word. They are God's personal promises to us.
Spend time in your Bible, searching out those promises. And then, spend time in prayer with the Lord, and then purposing to live out that God kind of faith for your life. It may start small and weak, but then let it grow as you purpose to trust more and more in Him.
Every day you will encounter experiences in life where God wants you to go to God's Word and take those promises and apply it to your life. The more you place your trust in Jesus, the more you will learn to trust in His promises even more.
Don't live by your own efforts, or in the realm of hope, but let hope grow to faith and trust in what the Lord has done and is doing in you.
