Faith's Worst Enemy What is the #1 enemy of faith?

This article will deal with the battles that believers have in keeping their faith strong.

Faith's Worst Enemy

In these days of turmoil upon the earth, with the uncertainty of what the future will bring, keeping our faith can weaken or even crumble when we don't see God's hand come against the forces of evil.  It seems to be a time when our faith is being tested.  God, however, is not testing our faith - He is asking us to stand strong in our faith and remain faithful to God's promises.  Fear, however, is faith's worst enemy.  It is the #1 thing that can rock a person's faith.  That is why God tells us in His Word over 365 times to not fear.  That's one for every day of the year.

God Choses When

God did not choose you to be born 500 or 1000 years ago, but He chose you to be born in this generation.  Just as Jeremiah 1:5 tells us, "before God formed you in your mother's womb, He knew you.  Before you were born, He set you apart."  That means God has had a plan and purpose for your life now in this generation.  Think about it:

As a believer in Christ Jesus, you can be certain that God chose you long before you were born to be here on this earth, in your city or town, in your particular family with a plan and purpose at this particular time in history.  He wants to accomplish His plans through you.  This is why it is so critically important that you draw close to the Lord continuously through His Word and prayer because Satan wants to avert your attention and place fear in you with the things that are going on in this world.  We all know that if you focus on the things that are going on in the world, we will be afraid.  But when we take the promises of God to ourselves, we can be confident God has our back and He is taking care of us.

I used to be afraid for my children, grandchildren and even my great grandchildren with what is coming forth in the world.  While I was at peace for myself, I was afraid for them.  Then God got a hold of me and expressed to me clearly that while He created me for this generation and for His purpose, He did the same thing with my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  In other words, my family is in God's hands, and I have no reason to fear for them because they too were created for this generation with His plans and purposes also working in their lives.  My responsibility, however, is to train my family in the ways of the Lord, regardless of how old they are.  They were graced to me by God, and I carry the responsibility to continuously pray for them, talk to them about the Lord and His ways, and then leave them in the hands of the Lord.

Our Greatest Inheritance

The greatest treasure I can pass on to my children and their children is the gift of my faith.  People tend to think our inheritance is money and worldly goods.  In the eyes of the Lord, however, the best inheritance we can give and pass on down to our family is the faith that we have in God through His Son Jesus Christ in the promises that rightfully belong to us.  They then too will walk in the ways of the Lord and pass their inheritance of the Lord down to their children as well.

So as we live in these days of uncertainty, we can be certain that we and our family are in the hands of God and our future has been planned and destined by our God who loves us and desires the very best for us.
